The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Criminal Justice program at 91传媒 (91传媒) provides you with not only an education but also an opportunity to explore how criminal justice operates with real-world experiences. All classes are taught by attorneys and law enforcement professionals with experience in the criminal justice field. Small classes allow students to develop individual relationships with faculty and explore areas where academic knowledge meets real-world practice.

In our bachelor鈥檚 degree in Criminal Justice, you will interact with law enforcement, corrections, and legal community members and visit local courts, law enforcement agencies, and correctional facilities. You can also participate in several law enforcement simulations designed to enhance your understanding of the criminal justice system.

The combination of a solid academic base, a strong liberal arts foundation, and hands-on experience will position you well for one of the many exciting career opportunities in criminal justice.

Why Earn Your Criminal Justice BA Degree?

A bachelor鈥檚 degree in Criminal Justice allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system. This understanding stems from a hands-on approach to exploring key criminal justice concepts and opportunities to engage with active professionals. Examples of this are as follows:

Internships: Internships are individually designed based on your career interests. Past internships have included placements in local and regional police departments, prosecutor鈥檚 offices, juvenile centers, the New Hampshire State Prison, probation departments, law offices, and victim assistance programs.

Criminal Investigations: Explore techniques for the collection and preservation of physical evidence, crime scene photography, blood spatter analysis, lifting and storing fingerprints, crime scene reconstruction, and the investigative processes applicable to specific crimes.

Contemporary Law Enforcement: In addition to exploring contemporary law enforcement practices and challenges, you will participate in a two-day law enforcement hiring seminar conducted by independent law enforcement personnel. The seminar includes an exploration of the hiring process, including the police officer entry exam, the background investigation process, the polygraph examination, and practice procedures for the oral board/interview phases. Students participate directly in a minimum of two simulated law enforcement oral boards/interviews.

Issues in Professional Practice (Senior Seminar): Prepare for the challenges and responsibilities of working as a criminal justice professional, including the transition from student to employment and opportunities within the field, by preparing r茅sum茅s, interviewing professionals, and presenting the results of a research project on a contemporary criminal justice issue. In addition, during spring break, students travel to the Washington, D.C., area. On past trips, students have been the guests of the FBI and DEA at Quantico, the U.S. Secret Service, the U.S. Supreme Court and a local trial court, the U.S. Capitol Police, local police departments, and the Adult Detention Center in Manassas, Virginia.

What Can You Do with a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in Criminal Justice?

91传媒 Students and Faculty Present Research at the 2025 NH-INBRE and NH-LIFT Annual Meetings

Over the last 15 years, the college has received $4 million in NH-INBRE and NH-LIFT grants to support faculty and student research in the natural and social sciences.

Four faculty and 13 students from 91传媒 (91传媒) presented research at the 2025 New Hampshire IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (NH-INBRE) Annual Meeting and the NH-LIFT Annual Meeting, both held at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in August.

Criminal Justice Professor Rick Hubbard鈥檚 Article Published by the FBI

Hubbard teaches courses such as Criminal Justice Ethics, Criminal Procedure, and Introduction to Criminal Justice, alongside specialized topics including undercover operations and federal crimes. His scholarship examines complex issues in sentencing, search and seizure, and juvenile justice, with publications in outlets like ACJS Today and Critical Issues in Justice and Politics. Beyond the classroom, he is an engaged campus leader, serving as co-advisor to the Criminal Justice Club, faculty advisor to the Student Senate, and a faculty advisor to the men鈥檚 soccer program.

His most recent article, 鈥淧olice Use of Pole Cameras and the Fourth Amendment,鈥� has been published on the FBI鈥檚 Law Enforcement Bulletin website.
